Hi, I’m Kate—stylist, salon owner, educator, mom of four, and the proud maker of legendary guacamole (there is a secret ingredient, and no, I won’t spill it here 😉).
I’ve been in the beauty industry for 25+ years and a salon owner for over 18 of them. I built my team-based salon, Salon Space, from the ground up—literally. Our opening was featured on A&E’s Flip This House, and yes, it was just as chaotic as it sounds. Since then, I’ve led a team of 9 (and growing), launched an apprentice program, and created systems that turned my business from a burnout machine into a salon I love walking into—and can actually step away from.
Before I developed the Outstanding Consultation Method (OCM), I was doing what so many owners do: overworking, micromanaging, rescuing everyone, and still feeling like I was drowning. I went through every painful phase—unicorn culture, the Martha Stalin over-correction, the burnout loop—and finally found what actually works. Now I teach salon owners how to lead their teams with clarity, boundaries, and culture-driven systems that increase sales, grow loyalty, and let you (finally) reclaim your time.
Through Lived in Leadership, I’ve combined all my hard-won lessons, my background as a national educator for a global color company, and my obsession with behavioral psychology to create a suite of tools and trainings that help salon owners grow not just stylists—but loyal, invested, and revenue-generating teams.
